Big Idea: Sometimes we must be reminded of who we are and what we have been given in Christ.
Application: Throughout Scripture, God's people are repeatedly told to remember what God has done. They tell the stories. They celebrate the feasts. They build memorials. They repeat the promises.
When something happens this week that makes you feel anxious, insecure, ashamed, angry, or alone, pause. Before you let that moment tell you who you are, ask three questions:
- Who am I?
- What does God say about me?
- What have I been given?
- What has Christ already accomplished for me?
- What is true?
- What has God said that remains true regardless of how I feel right now?
Then speak the truth back to yourself.
- I am God's child.
- I am forgiven.
- I am redeemed.
- I belong to Christ.
- I have been given an inheritance.
- I have the Holy Spirit.
- I am not alone.
