1 Corinthians 1:1-9
Waiting with Purpose

Big Idea: God not only gives gifts and callings to individual Christians, but he also gives gifts and callings to the universal church and to each church community.

Application: Waiting with purpose isn’t a feeling; it’s a practice. This week, make space to practice waiting by,

1. Cultivating gratitude for the grace already given.

a. Ending each day by naming one way God sustained you.

b. Writing down moments of grace, however small.

c. Sharing with someone where you’ve seen Christ at work this week.

2, Live as people who expect Jesus to come.

a. Choosing faithfulness in places you’re tempted to drift.

b. Slowing down long enough to pray, “Lord, strengthen me today”.

c. Taking a small, intentional step of obedience that reflects Christ’s kingdom coming near.

These practices turn waiting from a passive season into a formative one—shaping us into people whose hope is anchored in God’s reliability rather than our own timing.
