Isaiah 65:17-25

Big Idea: Redemption and judgment are not opposing works but a single act of God’s renewing love; as God brings forth the new heaven and new earth, all that distorts life is exposed and set right, forming a people ready to live in the light of that coming reality.

Application: Isaiah gives us a vision of the life God is creating—joy without fear, work without futility, relationships without harm, and nearness without delay. As apprentices of Jesus, we respond by training our lives now for the world God is bringing. Consider practices that can help you live this out.

  1. Practice of Solitude - Build a daily habit of unhurried time with Jesus—Scripture, prayer, and silence—allowing God to reshape your imagination toward joy rather than anxiety.
  2. Practice of Sabbath - Adopt rhythms of simplicity and faithfulness in your work and possessions—doing fewer things with greater love, refusing both overwork and disengagement.
  3. Practice of Community - Intentionally practice reconciliation, enemy-love, and gentleness in places of conflict—home, church, workplace, or community.
