Big Idea: We are not sufficient in ourselves; our sufficiency is from God.
Application: Sabbath is not primarily about rest from exhaustion. It is about rest from self-sufficiency.
This week, consider practicing Sabbath. Below are a few things to keep in mind,
- Set a consistent 24-hour period each week where you cease vocational work.
- Turn off productivity inputs — email, work messaging, planning.
- Name your anxieties before you stop.
- Write down what feels urgent and consciously entrust it to God.
- Do what restores delight in God’s world,
- slow meals
- walks
- worship
- unhurried time with family
- End the day by thanking God for what He sustained without your involvement.
