2 Corinthians 12:11:-13:13
Big Idea: True spiritual maturity in the Christian community is cultivated through a genuine process of repentance, where individuals encourage one another toward holiness and deeper relationship with God.
Application: Paul reminds us of the call to live as one; this happens best when we aim to be a community marked by holiness and repentance.
This week, the invitation is to consider how you might practice these in community.
  1. Practice Self-examination
    1. Set aside time this week, perhaps in Sabbath or solitude, to sit quietly before God and pray, "Lord, is there anything in me that is keeping me from deeper fellowship with You?"
      1. Listen.
      2. Pay attention.
      3. Invite the Spirit to reveal areas where you need to return to Him.
  2. Practice Confession
    1. When the Spirit brings something to light, don't hide it.
      1. Bring it into the open before God.
      2. And where appropriate, bring it before a trusted brother or sister in Christ.
      3. The church is not a community of people who have it all together; it is a community of people learning to walk in the light together.
  3. Practice Loving Encouragement
    1. Ask yourself: Who has God placed in my life that needs encouragement toward Jesus?
      1.  Perhaps someone is drifting, weary, or struggling.
        1. Pray for them.
        2. Reach out to them.
        3. Have courageous and gracious conversations.
      2. Not to fix them or shame them, but to lovingly invite them back toward Christ.
